Guides & how-tos
Everything you need to get the most out of your maps — clear, step-by-step, and written for real people, not engineers.

Getting started & capture day
New to drone mapping? Start here. Plain-language walkthroughs of how a flight becomes an interactive map you can explore in your browser — what happens on capture day, how to prep your site, what "centimeter accuracy" and the coordinate system really mean, and how recurring re-flights keep your record current. Friendly, no jargon, no experience required.
How Drone Mapping Works (In Plain English)
The whole idea in five minutes: a drone photographs your property, software stitches it into measurable maps and photoreal 3D, and you explore everything from a browser link — nothing to install.
3 minStart Your Project: Scope It in Minutes
The Build-Your-Quote wizard asks a few quick questions about your property and recommends the right mapping package — then we send a tailored quote. No account, no obligation.
2 minWhat to Expect on Capture Day
A friendly walkthrough of flight day — how long we're on site, what the drone does, what you need to do (usually very little), and what happens after we pack up.
3 minHow to Prep Your Site Before a Flight
A short checklist that makes your flight smoother and your maps cleaner — access, timing, hazards, and the few things worth tidying up beforehand.
3 minYour Coordinate System, Explained Simply (WGS 84 / UTM Zone 14N)
What that 'WGS 84 / UTM Zone 14N' label on your data actually means, why it matters when you hand files to an engineer or GIS team, and why you can safely ignore it if you're just exploring the map.
3 minHow Accurate Are Your Maps? (Accuracy Expectations)
What 'accurate to about a centimeter' really means, how ground control and check points prove it, what changes the number in practice, and the honest line on legal surveys.
3 minRe-Flights & Recurring Monitoring: Keeping Your Record Current
How a one-time map becomes a living record — scheduled re-flights on a cadence, automatic change reports between flights, and how to request a fresh capture right from your dashboard.
3 minUsing your interactive maps
Everything you need to move around your drone maps in the browser — orbiting the 3D model, switching between the 2D map, 3D, 360, and flyover views, going fullscreen, and getting the best experience on your phone or tablet. No software to install; it all runs in your web browser.
Navigate and orbit the 3D model
Spin, pan, and zoom your 3D model with a mouse or your fingers — plus how to reset the camera and drop to ground level.
2 minSwitch between the 2D map, 3D, 360, and flyover views
Your project shows the same site through several lenses. Here's what each tab is and how to move between them — your tools and markup carry across.
2 minGo fullscreen for a bigger view
Fill your whole screen with the map for a distraction-free look — and how to get back out.
1 minView your maps on a phone or tablet
Your project works right in a mobile browser — no app needed. Here's what to expect on a small screen and how to get the smoothest experience.
2 minExplore Ground View 360 and the point cloud
Two of the most immersive views: walk the site in 360° panoramas, and rotate and recolor the full-density point cloud.
2 minCompare two scans and see what changed
Set two flight dates against each other in the Compare tab to spot exactly what changed — with a slider, a before/after swipe, a change heatmap, elevation cut-and-fill, and exportable reports.
2 minSave and return to specific views
Bookmark the exact camera angle, view, and scan you're looking at, jump back to it any time, and hand it to someone with a link or a QR code.
2 minExplore points of interest (pins with photos and video)
Some maps include curated pins your mapping team places on the highlights — click one to see its photo or video, read the details, and jump straight to the best view of that spot.
2 minCapture and revisit screenshots
Grab a picture of any view with the Camera button, then browse, download, or keep your saved shots in the built-in screenshot gallery.
2 minMeasure & mark up
Pull real-world numbers straight off your map and 3D models — distances, areas, stockpile and earthwork volumes — and mark up the site with pins, coordinate points, and notes you can share, track, and export. Every tool works the same way across the 2D map and the 3D views, so once you learn one you know them all.
Measure a distance
Click two or more points to measure length on the 2D map or in any 3D view. Get a live distance readout plus compass bearing.
2 minMeasure an area
Draw a polygon to measure surface area — a field, a roof, a parking lot — with perimeter and a quick volume estimate. Works on the map and in 3D.
2 minMeasure stockpile & earthwork volumes
Use the Volume Calculator to get real cut/fill volumes from your elevation data — pick a base level, read cut, fill, and net, and compare two scans over time.
2 minDrop pins and add notes
Mark a spot with a coordinate pin, or drop a note to flag something for your team — on the map or anywhere in 3D. Notes carry text, comments, and status.
2 minManage, share & export your measurements and notes
Everything you measure or mark collects in one panel. Show/hide items, switch units, share notes with your team, track them to resolved, and export to GeoJSON, KML, CSV, or DXF.
2 minUnderstanding your deliverables
A plain-language tour of every output we deliver — what each one is, when to reach for it, and exactly how to open it in your browser. No software to install; everything runs in the interactive viewer on your project page.
Photoreal 3D Model — your site as a solid, textured object
A true-to-life 3D model of your property you can spin, tilt, and zoom in the browser. Best for walkthroughs, presentations, and getting a feel for the whole site at a glance.
2 min2D Aerial Map (Orthomosaic) — measure and mark up from above
A crisp, top-down aerial map of your site stitched from hundreds of photos and corrected so every point sits in its true location. This is your go-to for measuring distances and areas, dropping notes, and switching between data layers.
2 minPoint Cloud (LiDAR) — millions of measured 3D points
A dense cloud of individually measured 3D points describing your site's exact shape. Ideal for precise elevations, seeing the bare ground beneath vegetation, and detailed terrain and structure analysis.
2 minGaussian Splat & Oblique — two extra ways to see it in 3D
Two photoreal 3D views beyond the standard model: the Gaussian Splat renders beautifully and runs smoothly even on phones, while the Oblique view excels at building faces and vertical detail seen from an angle.
2 minGround-View 360 & Flyover Video — experience the site
Two immersive, no-learning-curve views: step inside street-view-style 360° panoramas pinned to the map, or press play on a cinematic aerial flyover of the property.
2 minMeasurements, Elevation & Volumes — turning the map into numbers
How to pull real numbers out of your data: distances and areas, terrain elevation profiles and contour lines, and cut/fill volume calculations for stockpiles and earthwork.
2 minYour dashboard, sharing & embeds
Everything for getting into your client portal and putting your maps to work: sign in with your access code, find your projects and download deliverables, share a project safely, drop an interactive map onto your own website, walk your property in Ground-View 360, and put your own brand on a shared map.
Sign in to your client portal with your access code
Use the access code from your welcome email to open your private dashboard of maps, 3D models, and reports.
2 minFind your projects and download your deliverables
Navigate the dashboard to open any project, and grab your maps, 3D models, point clouds, and reports from the Downloads tab.
2 minShare a project with someone else
Hand off a map to a teammate, lender, or contractor — with a quick view link, a QR code, or a named share link that you can turn off later.
2 minEmbed a live map on your own website
Copy a ready-made snippet and drop your interactive 2D map straight into any web page, listing, or portal.
2 minPut your own brand on a shared map
On the white-label tier, an embedded map can carry your name, logo, and colors instead of ours — so it looks native to your website.
2 minGenerate reports and your project report page
Turn any project into a polished PDF report or a frame-ready Property Scan Certificate in one click, from your dashboard or a project's report page.
2 minTrack issues with your team
Report a problem on your site, follow it from Open to Resolved, and hash it out with our team in a comment thread — all from the Issues tab in your dashboard.
