View your maps on a phone or tablet
Your project runs in your phone or tablet's web browser, with nothing to install.
Getting around by touch
The gestures are the same in every view:
- Move around — drag with one finger.
- Zoom — pinch with two fingers, double-tap to step in, or tap once with two fingers to step out.
- Rotate a 3D view — twist with two fingers.
- Tilt a 3D view — swipe up or down with two fingers.
- Reset & undo — the bottom toolbar stays within thumb reach.
What the tabs look like on a phone
The view tabs shrink to compact icons with short labels (2D, 360, Mesh, PtCld, 3D, Video, Cmp), so every view fits across the top.
Which views run on a phone
- 2D Map, Ground View (360), Flyover, and Compare run smoothly on your phone.
- 3D Model streams in tiles, like the 2D Map, so it runs on your phone too. See Which devices work with your maps? for what we've tested.
- 3D Mesh doesn't render on a phone. There, the project's own team gets a download link instead (signed in, or using its access code, with all tools showing).
- Try anyway loads the 3D Mesh on a phone for anyone, though the phone may run out of memory.
- Point Cloud: a streamed, tiled cloud renders on your phone, a little at a time. A large single-file cloud doesn't: the project's own team gets a download link instead, and others are asked to use a computer.
- Tablets (like an iPad) render the 3D Mesh in the browser. Point clouds behave as on a phone: only streamed, tiled clouds render.
For long sessions of measuring, marking up or comparing flights, a laptop or desktop gives you the most room.
Top-right controls on mobile
Phones show the always-visible buttons: Fullscreen, Hide controls, Help, Viewer settings, Saved Views (not on the demo), ⋯ (more) and Ask Ed LiDAR. The ⋯ menu holds Share, Copy view link, Project details, Export, Screenshot, Screenshots and Simple view.
On a desktop, the buttons drop their labels as the window narrows, then move into the same ⋯ menu. The viewer tabs never shrink to make room.
Fullscreen, Hide controls, Help, Viewer settings, Share, Saved Views (not on the demo) and Ask Ed LiDAR always stay on the bar.
Help (the ?) offers Take the tour and Tips for this view. Hide controls (the eye) clears the buttons off the map and the 3D views; one tap brings them back.
Simple view
Simple view gives you a simplified view, without the measuring and drawing tools. It's in the ⋯ menu on a phone, and on the toolbar on a wider screen. All tools brings them back, and this browser remembers your choice.
A shared link that already opens simplified doesn't show it.
Everything stays in sync
Anything you measure or note on your phone saves to the project, so it shows up on any device.
